The Christian Feminist Podcast: 11i7:Siphrah and Pauh on Apple Podcasts

interesting podcast on the Hebrew midwives in Exodus 1 - several different Christian perspectives discussed and several different interpretations - from Calvinist, Evangelical and Catholic perspectives. These are Christian scholars who studied all different commentaries and sermons as well as Jewish commentaries.

They do not come to any conclusions or advance any particular Christian view. They talk about how this story and these midwives have often been overlooked in Christian formation. I learned a lot of interesting things about the commentaries and backgrounds.

MotherWit Postpartum Doula Training Vancouver April 27-30 2020
Apr 27 at 9 AM – Apr 30 at 6 PM PD

MotherWit Doula Care is pleased to present a comprehensive training in Holistic Postpartum Doula Care.
In a culture that puts a lot of pressure on new mothers to live up to the mythical image of SuperMom, a MotherWit Postpartum Doula has the power to bring a sane, calm perspective. We believe in nurturing the new mother so all she has to do in the precious few weeks after birth is focus on her new baby/babies and her loved ones.
Full healing of everything a woman has gone through during the childbearing year requires some space and reflection. By providing opportunities for rest and proper physical and emotional nourishment, the MotherWit Certified Postpartum Doula creates a special space within which a woman who has just given birth and her partner can heal and come into their own power as a mother and father. We like to call this space the BabyMoon.

At MotherWit Doula Training we focus on nurturing
and facilitating the development of our students, so they may confidently bring their own unique, beautiful qualities
to their work with new families.

Some of the things covered in this 4 day/32 hour workshop:
- Deep, active listening,
- Non-judgmental support
- Breastfeeding support basics
- Newborn care and feeding
- Massage for new mothers
- Home organization for new families
- Postpartum recovery and care
- and so much more.

Midwifery Today Conference Eugene, Oregon, USA • May 31 – June 3, 2020 “Gentle Birth; Gentle Midwifery”

We welcome you enthusiastically to our Eugene conference. Eugene is always a special event because it has been our hometown for our 33 years of existence. We have an incredible program with excellent speakers lined up for you. We are also offering many of the classes for the first time. We want to focus on gentle midwifery and birth because our field of expertise is too often co-oped by medicine. It is important for us to know who we are and who we are working for — that is, motherbaby and, indeed, the whole family. They need our love, care, and protection more than ever in these trying times. We want each mother and each baby to have the best birth possible, while keeping in mind their safety. This conference has something for everyone and you are welcome whether you are a midwife, doula, doctor, or other practitioner.

Birthwise offers continuing education classes for midwives, midwifery students, and the public. For most classes, anyone can attend for credit or as an auditing student regardless of their professional status or experience.

Some of our continuing education classes are pre-approved by the Midwifery Education Accreditation Council (MEAC), which means Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) can count any coursework at Birthwise towards their North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) recertification. Those classes that are not pre-approved can also be used for NARM recertification under category one on the application.

Midwifery Today Conference

Bad Wildbad, Germany • 21–25 October 2020

Birthing in Love: Everyone’s Right

Welcome to Bad Wildbad, Germany—everyone’s favorite venue. The whole town welcomes us with open arms and, of course, the spas add such a joyful dimension to an already great conference. We love to meet and sing in the spas. There is usually a delicious communal dinner with lots of laughing and talking. Our lineup of speakers is, as always, incredible—as you can see here. We make every effort to bring you a rich program that will help you with your calling as a midwife, doula, or other birth practitioner. We hope to equip you with important information, but also with insight and inspiration. Many midwives who had previously attended this conference informed us that they were ready to quit practice but became so inspired with ideas and energy shared here that they stayed in it!

We believe that our theme of Birthing in Love: Everyone’s Right is really important for the times in which we are living. Not only do our speakers excel in the knowledge imparted in their classes, but they also manifest love and caring and make themselves available for chats and questions between classes. We hope you will join us for this beautiful event!

Classes include:

  • A variety of clinical sessions such as Hemorrhage, Shoulder Dystocia, Correcting Malpresentations, and others.
  • Helping a Slow Labor Progress, Hands on
  • Perineal Suture Repair Workshop
  • Trauma and Transformation through Pregnancy and Birth
